The Killer's Way is a first-person horror game where your main objective is to find the exit door in every maze. However, as you do such, a killer clown that lurks behind the walls awaits to catch you, so be careful in every turn you make.
The Killer's Way was first developed back in the year 2016. However, the initial version was never released in public. This is due to numerous bugs and unstable mechanics of the game at that time. In the year 2024, the game had its revival. The developer planned on making a new and improved version of the game without changing its original intended gameplay, objectives, and mechanics. The top priority for this improvement is the game's graphics, player and enemy movement, and device optimization. In the 2016 version of the game, the graphics contained low-quality textures and inconsistent lighting. The movements were also a lot inefficient. One problem encountered with player movement is that the player tends to get stuck if moving too close to a wall. After several unreleased concept designs, planning, and implementation of prototypes, the new version of The Killer's Way is born, providing an overhaul improvement for the graphics and mechanics while still preserving its original style of controls and gameplay.
As the game is still running under the demo version, most features are still not final. These include in-game mechanics, storyline, and settings for device optimization. Currently, the player-optimized settings have three different features that serve functions. (1) The player can switch between low-quality graphics and high-quality graphics, depending on their device performance. (2) The player can adjust the sound effects and background music volumes. (3) The player can reset or unlock their game progress, although this feature is only available in the demo versions. In the PC version of the game, there is an additional feature. This feature allows the player to toggle full-screen mode on and off.
Unlike any other first-player video game, this game's controls are a bit different. Instead of freely moving your view with your fingers (on mobile) or mouse (on PC), certain buttons must be pressed to rotate the view left and right. This unique adds more difficulty in controlling the player's movement. However, as of the moment, the device performance unexpectedly become a factor in this difficulty. In contrast with the initial version, the sprinting mechanic is now in the game. Players can now sprint while consuming stamina that regenerates after a few moments. Currently, mouse activities or on-screen clicks have no function, but the developers plan to add at least one soon.
(The following paragraph contains spoilers.)
There are currently three interactable characters in the game, with the first being the player's character. As the main character, you have no idea how you ended up in the stone-brick labyrinth. However, as you pass different mazes, fragments of reality slowly come into pieces. The next interactable character is the Killer Clown. He is the main antagonist of the game. Who is he? No one knows; only one thing for sure--he wants to kill you. Why? No one knows either. Be careful as you venture your way out. He might start slacking, but you must never take it for granted. The music's sound follows him, but why? Where did it come from? No one knows, but you certainly can use it to your advantage. The third interactable character is the puppet. No one knows, just like the clown. This puppet cannot kill you, but whenever this thing appears, your view seems to distort.
After completing each maze, a short cutscene plays. These cutscenes include dialogues or monologues from certain people. Some seem to be familiar to your character, while some seem to be mysterious. Who are they? It is up to you to find out.
The Killer's Way demo is currently available for PC platforms (Windows, Mac, and Linux) and Android. The game is downloadable directly from this GTI Productions Official Website and Amazon. Currently, the game is not available in other app stores or game stores such as Google Play Store, Steam, and Microsoft Store.
